Love

It finally happened.
Melissa and Dan went from this:

to this:

I didn't get too many pictures, but will post more as other people send them to me. It was a beautiful night that perfectly expressed these two and their special aura.

I'm so touched to have been a part of this event.

Congratulations to two of my favorite people in the world.

Look, Kids...It's a Grown-up Stove!

Now we'll wait patiently for 4 weeks until the counters and sink arrive....

Food, Wine, Happy

A few weeks ago, I had a bridal shower for Melissa. We hired a chef, gathered Melissa's favorite people together, and had a great time. The food was to die for, the wine pairings excellent, and the night was wonderfully fun and relaxing.

A Post From the Depths of Sawdust

It's finally happening! Our kitchen is under construction. Yay!

Unfortunately, I didn't get "before" pictures so that everyone can be amazed by the incredible transformation. But I do have pictures that were taken in the kitchen...you just have to look around the adorable people to see the 1950's charm we've been hanging out in for the last two years.

Note, if you will, the speckled old-time linoleum counters, complete with metal edge. Note the cabinets. Note (although it's hard to get the full impact in these pictures) the apartment-sized stove and the fact that the whole kitchen was built around it.

We're having the cabinets cut back and rebuilt to accomodate a real stove, we're painting the cabinets and putting on new hardware, and we're having new counters and a new sink installed.

The thing that is, unfortunately, not included in this round of projects, is the floor. Since that beautiful tile runs all the way into the bathroom, up the bathroom walls, and around the tub, we're saving that joyful project for another day.

Here's what the kitchen looks like today. Our contractor is laughing because he's never had to rebuild built-in cabinets before, and apparently it's rather amusing (i.e. challenging.)

Stay tuned for updates!
