Progress

Well, we finally have something to show for ourselves.

We spent the weekend sanding, tacking, and painting, over and over and over again. It's enough to drive a person to claim the painting territory directly next to the liquor cabinet so she can spend the tedious hours contemplating which bottle would put her out of her misery fastest.

(Well, hello painter's little helper, waiting so patiently on the bottom shelf!)

We are now finished with Leg #1 of the cabinet painting journey. The frames of the upper cabinets are done. We left the sunflower yellow on the back wall of the cabinets because it made us happy.

Tomorrow the counters will be installed!

As Soon As It Hits 40 Degrees...

...all of the crazies come out.

They sweep the melted-snow lake off our driveway and they get down to a mean game of Dads Against Kids. They play until it's too dark to see, then come inside and complain about how hot it is out there.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing...

Well, we don't have any kitchen updates because nothing has been happening. We're still waiting for the counters and sink, still washing dishes in the bathtub, and still haven't started painting the cabinets.

So, to keep the excitement up, we'll show you what our kitchen is going to look like sometime in the not-too-distant future:

Light blue walls, white cabinets and trim, grey quartz countertops and nickel hardware.

Can you picture it? We sure can.

Another Moment of Fame

You all know by now that Ben is an accomplished artiste.*

But did you know that his art was chosen ONCE AGAIN to grace the walls of the Arts Guild? Sure enough it was.

That's him below, seriously considering his fame. His drawing is behind him (the one with blue mountains and the sun rising over the water.)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go field calls from his fans.

*For some reason, when I reformatted this blog a while back, some of the old posts got all scrambled. I think you can get the main gist of the post, but I apologize for the goofy formatting.

And It Was

I'll tell you what a person's supposed to do with a horoscope like that: make chocolate.

Because, really, happiness IS attainable when you can bake it and eat it.

These babies will get you through any day that you're asked to do the impossible. I promise.

Mini Mint Happiness Brownies

2 sticks butter
1 (10 oz) bag mint chocolate chips
1 cup sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup flour

Melt butter over medium-low heat. Add chips and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Add sugar, then eggs, then flour, stirring the whole time. Fill mini muffin tin cups 3/4 full. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Cool on a rack. Makes about 36.

You can even freeze these for unexpected emergencies.

It's Gonna Be a Good Day

What's a person supposed to do with a horoscope that ends with:

"For now, just enjoy the irony of unattainable happiness."?

Oh, that unattainable happiness! I'm just going to kick back, pour myself a lemonade, and enjoy the irony.

Oy. Vey.
